"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."
Che: a single moment and there he is; the teenager.
Poet: hiding under her new hat, looking very "little house"
I got a bit of a shock when I saw this photo of Che on the screen. So long-limbed, his features more defined. I think he's almost outgrown this space.

I always love a portrait framed by a doorway and this one is perfect / a sweet gaze accompanied by a precious conversation between mother and daughter / a portrait of a room - Bella and Gabby are surrounded by beauty / the sweetest (and most accomplished) butterfly catcher I know / and golden happiness - just look at all that autumnal goodness.

My boys have grown just lately - it's so alarming. One minute huge turn ups, the next I can see the tops of their socks. The button isn't there to add yet... lou x
ReplyDeletegorgeous is that brick wall background.
ReplyDeleteand those children. .
lovely, as always!

It is so bittersweet to watch the little ones turn into big ones. As a mother we want them to grow big and strong, yet we grieve our lost babies. I am thankful for your reminders to document along the way!
ReplyDeletei look at pictures of Lily from when we first started this project and i cannot believe how much she has grown in less than a year. then i look at myself and i too have grown
ReplyDeleteIt is so bittersweet, as we see them age before us. Please just wait for me a little while, small ones - I've got growing to do, too. Beautiful images of your babes as ever. Holly.x
ReplyDeleteThey really do just grow before your eyes. Once a baby, then a toddler....please slow down! Your captures are perfect as always Jodi. I adore Poet's beautiful sunny hat. Have a happy weekend. Melinda x
ReplyDeleteYes this year I've really noticed the passage of time through my photos - I started the year with a small babe and I now have an increasingly independent toddler. It's amazing, exciting, and terrifying all at the same time. x
ReplyDeleteWow Che, you're giving your mama a scare. Slow down!! I think our children may grow quicker than our hearts are ready for!
ReplyDeleteIt's the regular, annual celebrations that make me stop and think about my babies and how they were this time last year, last Halloween (and how far we've come as a family, too).
ReplyDeleteLove little Poet this week. That wall is the perfect backdrop.
They grow up so quickly don't they? I have found myself hugging Toddler C tighter and tighter, trying to hold onto the little bit of baby that is left in him.
ReplyDeleteLovely portraits! :-)

I'd definitely be re-thinking Che's presence in this space now that he is older (but I'm a bit of a worrier like that, and I keep my girls locked off the public sphere). Worth considering though.
ReplyDeleteOh that hat! x
ReplyDeletelove the mood created in Che's portrait. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBefore I even read your comment, I thought the same - you can see the teenage Che. They grow so fast xx
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Che has teenager written all over him here. Thank you for replying to my question regarding printing. I think I will do the same and have a few printed at the same time. x
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we could share the postage? I'll chat to them and see what they say x
DeleteThat sounds like a fantastic idea! x
DeleteOh my Che has certainly grown lots looking at him in this photo. Love Poet's sweet little hat. x
ReplyDeleteI know, right? I get these glimmers when I look at my girl and there glances back with the face of a lady. I think she's three! She's too young for this!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! In fact, the photograph of my four year old this week gave me a glimpse of the teenager he will be. Beautiful photos, and I hope you keep photographing Che for a bit longer for the 52 portrait series!

I'll definitely finish the year with Che's portraits but for 2014...I'm not so sure x
Deletethose glimpses you get stop you don't they. The teen to come....oh!
ReplyDeleteSweet! It is scary how quickly they seem to grow up.
ReplyDeleteOh my he has grown up! And sweet Poet in her floral hat...divine xx
ReplyDeleteAhhh, those little flash forwards are a little scary aren't they? But the good thing is that they do teach you to appreciate the NOW.
ReplyDeletePoet has the most amazing collection of hats and beanies. x
so cute!
ReplyDeleteThey're both amazing portraits - it must be quite daunting seeing them grow up through this project, right before your eyes xx
ReplyDeleteHi Jodi. Not much of a commenter these days, but oh my, I TOTALLY see a shift in Che with this portrait. Hope your well. Much love. Jade x
ReplyDeleteHello Jodi, another batch of sweet photos. Your little ones are growing so fast. I am sure your trip to Bali was such an amazing experience for them. It looked like a very nice time. Your photos and writing of the trip made me yearn for some travel myself. Our little guy was born 2 months ago and I am finally getting around to joining up with the 52 week project. So excited, thanks for this great idea!
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Lissa
Jodi, I feel the same way about my 4 year old boys - for a split second here and there I see them at age 14. How could that be happening already?!
ReplyDeleteLove Poet's Little House bonnet!
